Israel accused of denying Palestinians access to water
On one of my other forums, Israel is now the target of yet another thread. This time, it's related to this article:
Quote:
I suspect that many reading this post are prepared to go on about Amnesty International's anti-Israel agenda. I'm familiar with this argument, but it rings hollow if there is any truth to the report.

Re: Israel accused of denying Palestinians access to water
Excellent links; many thanks.
I maintain that Israel would do well to invest more in defending themselves at the mass media level. They need a louder, more efficient system of mouthpieces, and only poor strategy skills are preventing them from developing such a system. |

Amnesty's Water Report: Will the Facts Trickle Out? Yesterday Amnesty International issued a report condemning Israel's water policies and charging the Jewish state with discriminatory practice vis-a-vis allocation to its Palestinian neighbors ("Troubled Waters: Palestinians Denied Fair Access to Water"). The report is based solely on Palestinian sources. NGO-Monitor, Israel's Foreign MInistry, and the Water Authority have responded, blasting Amnesty for the report's flaws. CAMERA is reviewing the report and will provide updates as they are available. In the meantime, we were struck by this promotional video for the report, which juxtaposes photographs of sprinklers and swimming pools in Israeli communities with images of barren Palestinian water reservoirs and children carrying water vessels. Yet, there is no shortage of swimming pools in the Palestinian West Bank. As Ha'aretz's Avi Issacharoff wrote on Aug. 8, 2007: Nowadays, every city in the West Bank has a pool or a recreational complex: Bethlehem has one similar to Al-Khaluf [a clover-leaf-shaped pool in Dura, near Hebron], while Ramallah has more than 10. One of Jenin's swimming champs committed a suicide bombing at Jerusalem's Sbarro restaurant in August 2001. Nablus has a pool reserved for women, and an Olympic pool. Another pool and recreation complex sits between Nablus and Tubas.http://blog.camera.org/archives/2009...lsehood_1.html October 28, 2009 Amnesty Water Falsehood #1 We will keep a running list of Amnesty International's falsehoods in its new report "Troubled Waters -- Palestinians Denied Fair Access to Water." Keep checking back for updates. Here is the first: An Amnesty news report accompanying the report ("The Day the Bulldozers Came") alleges: The village of Beil Ula, where Mahmoud [al-'Alam] lives, is not connected to the Palestinian water network.Fact: The Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem, a Palestinian outfit, has a 17-page town profile of Beit Ula, which states on page 13: Beit Ula has been connected to the water network since 1974. Provided by the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA), almost 70% of town households are connected to the network.Posted by TS at October 28, 2009 08:23 AM

Re: Israel accused of denying Palestinians access to water
Sorry to sound defeatist, but constantly keeping up with those who wish to demonize Israel is like the proverbial Dutch boy trying to clog up the water leaking from a dam with his fingers and toes....
Not saying we shouldn't get the facts out there and do our part (as humans), but there just are thousands of times more who are against us then for us. That is why we have to rely on the Rock of our salvation, Aveinu Malkeinu Sheh Ba'Shamayim. Abraham was alone against the rest of the world (even his own father, Terach has him thrown into the fire for destroying his idols). Hence, Israel can stand against the rest of the world if need be, as long as we don't let down the One and Only who will never forsake us....

For example, in another thread, I found the details for a very reasonable-sounding peace agreement proffered by Israel to the Palestinians a few years ago. I'd never heard the details before. Most people (worldwide) had no clue that it was made. Why is that? When Israeli drafted the peace agreement, they should have been trumpeting it from the stars. Get a few celebrity mouthpieces to comment on it. Provide the complete text to the media, with bite-sized bullet points for easy publication. Then, when the Palestinians rejected it, the world would have gone WTF in unison. Instead, the offer wasn't even noticed. Currently, Israel's war for public perception poses a greater threat to Israel than any military threat. Israel needs to act accordingly. Thanks to the Internet, the numbers for/against no longer matter. |

Well I agree with you, but also for other reasons. Russia does horrendous things when they go to war yet never respond to allegations and it just goes away and disappears. Sure, they don't have the Arab propaganda and oil money against them buying up support, but still their response is proper, and that is no response. Look at all the money and time wasted on opposing these reports. That time and money could go towards defense, and I'm not talking about guns and tanks. I'm talking about technology towards domes and stopping the rockets. And the best defense, of course, would be to come up with oil alternatives to bankrupt those Arabs funding the propaganda. I believe this will happen and that Israel will be the first (they already have an electric car coming out) but it can happen sooner and the sooner the better. In the meantime Israel sounds like they "doth protest too much" by responding to all these nonsense claims. Just STFU and work on energy alternatives. Maspeek.
