Reports: 2 Dead, 6 Injured In Orlando Shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS) - Police have surrounded a downtown Orlando high-rise after gun shots were fired by a shooter who is still at large. Officials named Jason Rodriguez, born in 1969, and a possible former employee, as the suspected gunman.

CBS affiliate WKMG-TV in Orlando reports 2 deaths have been confirmed, and public safety officials say at least 8 people were shot at the high-rise office building in the Gateway Center near Orlando's Lake Ivanhoe, a considerable distance from the Disney World area. The building is being evacuated and Interstate 4 has been closed to traffic while rescue efforts are underway

A reporter for WKMG said there is heavy police activity at the scene, and says it has confirmed 2 people are dead.

WESH reports that firefighters confirmed multiple victims on the building's 4th floor.

Some rescue efforts were delayed because police did not know the location of the gunman, and were working to secure the building.

The Associated Press reports the building is on lockdown. The I-4 shutdown is north of the east-west expressway and covers both northbound and southbound traffic.
